The 7D FLASH™ Navigation System

Radiation-free guidance for improved accuracy and efficiency

The 7D FLASH™ Navigation System utilizes advanced MvIGS (Motion vision Image Guided Surgery) technology to provide radiation-free guidance during open spinal procedures. A simple way to think about the system is to consider it a GPS unit for your surgical team. The system creates a three-dimensional image of the patient's spine using visible light and machine-vision algorithms, allowing surgeons to navigate and perform procedures with greater precision and efficiency.

The key benefits of the 7D FLASH™ Navigation System include:

  • Radiation-free: Unlike traditional navigation technologies, the FLASH™ system eliminates the need for intraoperative radiation, reducing radiation exposure for both patients and health care providers.
  • Improved efficiency: The system's ability to gather imagery quickly and real-time navigation capabilities help streamline surgical procedures, potentially leading to shorter operating times.

The 7D FLASH™ Navigation System Percutaneous Platform

Optimized navigation for minimally invasive spine surgery

At Texas Health Center for Diagnostics and Surgery, we are proud to be the first location in Texas to own and utilize the 7D FLASH™ Navigation System Percutaneous platform. Much like the open module, the percutaneous module employs camera-based technology and machine-vision algorithms, allowing surgeons to navigate and perform procedures with greater precision and efficiency. However, the percutaneous module does not require an open surgical site in order to gather images and create a navigation plan, making it ideal for minimally invasive spinal procedures.

The key benefits of the 7D FLASH™ Navigation System Percutaneous platform include:

  • Imaging agnostic: The FLASH Percutaneous platform can work with any 3D imaging system, and it doesn't need to be continuously matched up with the patient's movements, making it easier for the surgeon to do their job effectively.
  • Optimized percutaneous workflow: With this system, surgeons follow a tested and proven step-by-step plan to do the surgery, increasing efficiency and creating confidence in consistent, predictable outcomes.
  • Multiple landmarks for enhanced accuracy: The proprietary FLASH Frame, featuring a unique Y-shaped geometry, allows surgeons to verify accuracy at multiple checkpoints.

Unlike the open module, the percutaneous module does use a minimal amount of radiation in order to gather the images it needs for navigation.

AquaBeam Robotic System

Innovative, minimally invasive treatment for BPH

Aquablation therapy is a safe and effective treatment option for men suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). Performed using the AquaBeam Robotic System, aquablation is an innovative, minimally invasive treatment that uses water delivered with robotic precision to provide long-lasting relief from symptoms and low rates of irreversible complications regardless of prostate size.1  During aquablation therapy the surgeon will remove the prostate tissue causing the symptoms by accessing the prostate through the urethra, without the need for any incisions.

This technology utilizes real-time, multi-dimensional imaging, automated robotic technology, and heat-free waterjet ablation technology.  This combination allows for targeted, controlled, and immediate removal of problematic prostate tissue, independent of prostate size. Aquablation therapy offers predictable and reproducible outcomes. Individual results may vary.

Robotic Surgery

da Vinci® Surgical System

Sophisticated technology, with a human touch

Surgeons on the medical staff at Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery have access to the da Vinci® Surgical System*, a sophisticated, robotic technology system that allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with small incisions and far greater precision.

With da Vinci, small incisions are used to insert miniaturized surgical instruments along with a small but powerful high-definition 3D camera. Seated comfortably at the da Vinci console, the surgeon views a magnified, high-resolution 3D image of the surgical site inside the patient’s body. The system’s advanced computerized technology scales, filters and seamlessly translates the surgeon's hand movements into precise micro-movements of the da Vinci instruments.

Although it is often called a "robot", the da Vinci Surgical System cannot move or operate on its own - the surgeon is 100% in control. For many patients, surgical procedures performed using this system have resulted in benefits such as smaller incisions, less pain, less blood loss, shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery and a faster return to normal activities.

3T MRI

See things from a new perspective

Your physician may suggest an MRI with the 3T technology. The 3T MRI is one of the most powerful and sophisticated MRI scanners currently available. The "T" in 3T MRI stands for Tesla, the unit of measurement of magnetic field strength. 

3T systems generate a magnetic field twice as strong as traditional MRI scanners and many times the strength of some open MRI systems. The 3T system’s stronger magnetic field produces images of exceptional clarity and anatomical detail in less time. At Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery, we offer a wide-bore system to accommodate large patients and patients with claustrophobia.

Nurse White Board System

So you can always know who your care team is

Our interactive whiteboard system improves patient satisfaction by helping the patient see an up-to-date personalized care plan that’s easy to understand. The white board system is used on our inpatient unit and is organized into patient-centered categories such as “My Team” and “Who is Taking Care of Me,” which will feature a photo of the caregiver. Outside the room, caregivers have electronic access to the system, which enables them to easily update the information.

They should talk to their doctors about their surgical experience and to decide if da Vinci is right for them.
